FAQs FAQs

  1. Where can I go?

Waynesburg University offers study abroad programs all over the world!

We have exchange programs with EWHA University in Seoul, South Korea, and with five universities in Northern Ireland through the BEI Institute.

We also offer endorsed programs through a number of different organizations. The Best Semester Program opens the door for students to study in Latin America, the Middle East, Australia, China, England, and Uganda. The Semester in Spain is the perfect place to immerse yourself in the Spanish language and culture. Creation Care offers opportunities in both Belize and New Zealand.

And you can also study at universities in England, Japan, New Zealand, Italy, or Lithuania.

  2. I am a ____ major - is there a program for me?

Absolutely! There are programs for any major you may be studying. Talk to your advisor or the registrar about all the different options to find what best suits you. Certain majors, like nursing, may need to consider doing a study abroad program during the summer so that you are able to keep up with your required classes at WU. Click here to see a full list of which programs connect to your major.

  3. When should I go?

We recommend planning to study abroad during your sophomore or junior year, so you can make sure to get all of your required classes before you graduate. Plan early and plan ahead!

Remember that you need to start planning a full academic year before you study abroad.

  4. When should I apply?

March 1 is the date to remember for all endorsed programs - that is the deadline to apply for one of the WU study abroad awards. Click here for the application form.

If you want to study in Northern Ireland, the deadline is January 15.

For EWHA in S. Korea, the WU deadline is March 1.

Keep in mind, these deadlines are whether you want to study in the Fall or Spring. Plan ahead! If you want to study in the Spring next year, you need to apply in March of this year.

  5. Is there a GPA requirement?

Yes, you need to have at least a 3.0 GPA to be considered for Study Abroad. Talk with your advisor if you have questions about this.

  6. How much does it cost?

The Exchange Programs with EWHA University and the N. Ireland universities cost the same as a semester at Waynesburg (travel expenses are extra). One of our students goes there and one of theirs comes here. If you are accepted into the program, all your current financial aid still applies.

For Endorsed Programs, you can apply for a study abroad award. If you receive the award, you can use all your current financial aid toward your study abroad program. The deadline to apply for these Study Abroad awards is March 1, the academic year before you want to study abroad, so plan ahead! Costs exceeding WU’s standard tuition will need to be covered by the student.

You are welcome to explore other study abroad options not listed here, though you should keep in mind that you will be responsible for all expenses.
